The Pulitzer Prize Photographs
Capture the Moment, a traveling exhibition, consists of photographs from every Pulitzer Prize photographer, from the year of the first prize 1942, to the present. Each year two new Pulitzer Prize photographs are added to the exhibition. Presently, there are 162 oversized dramatic reproductions mounted on very large back panels. For each winner, there is a text panel which tells the photographer’s story of the taking of the photograph.
Capture the Moment, internationally acclaimed, opened in New York in 2000, in association with NEWSEUM, now located in Washington, DC. Since then, the exhibition has been traveling across the country to museums, historical societies, universities and convention centers. Over two million viewers have flocked to see the remarkable work of the Pulitzer Prize photographers. Audiences of all ages, are particularly interested in following the historic chronology created by the photographs and the accompanying text.

Installation Facts
The gallery housing the exhibit needs to provide a minimum of 900 linear wall feet. All images should be hung from or near the same elevation that best meets the visitor’s eye level. Aesthetic visualization should be priority. The required wall color is white or off white. This contrast of white walls and black panels will focus the visitor to the photographs.
Directional Signage
The exhibit was designed to be viewed in chronological order by decades. Therefore, decade signage is provided as a means to direct the flow of patrons through the exhibition. For example: 1940’s - 1950’s.
DVD Viewing
The Emmy Award DVD, “Moment of Impact: Stories of the Pulitzer Prize Photographs,” should be run on a continuous loop on a screen, in an area where visitors can sit and enjoy the 72 minute film. If possible a sales station for the DVDs, can be set-up near the viewing area or mount a sign which reads, “DVDs on sale at the museum store.”
